Exactly, because wi-if has been cancelled before you even agreed to wii24 or whatever you call it. You can't use the wii shop.

That is not true at all. The part of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service that offered online play for Wii, DS, WiiWare, DSiWare, and Virtual Console games, as well as free downloadable content ended, but all other remaining services are still up and running. This includes the online user agreements, video streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu Plus, paid downloadable content for games, and both the Wii Shop Channel and Internet Channel. The WiiConnect24 service simply allowed consoles to send and receive select game data from Nintendo and registered friends while the console was powered down, similar to the StreetPass and SpotPass features of the Nintendo 3DS.

To the thread starter, if you enabled them, try to disable the WiiConnect24 settings for your console and then try connecting online again. If you are still unsuccessful, you might want to give Nintendo's support line a call at 1-800-255-3700 and talk to a representative there about the situation. They can likely tell you what may be the problem.
