Merry Christmas - I too am having the EXACT same problem as you this Christmas morning - good connection test but error 204965 when going on the wii shop channel. Glad to know I am not alone.

Thanks for the link. Just got the system and set it up. What a bad first user experience. I think they should have anticipated this and build more capacity into the wii store for the holidays.

You can find help for connecting to the Internet here. If you have a Wii mini, then it does not support an Internet connection.
